Reflections on year 2004Zoom! One year has passed.. Very quickly to be exact. This year has not been a very good year so to say.
January:
Plain slacking at home. Attempted to find job with del and sofia but to no avail.. Got addicted to yahoo pool as well.
February:
Got a job.. Worked for 8 days and earned $300+ before they didn't need me no more. Lynette got into an accident. I remember being insominiac. Played yahoo pool till the wee hours of the morning.. Mostly till about 6am. Chinese New Year was a pretty small affair - we didn't visit many houses this year. It was rather odd. Got back o'level results as well.. I scored well! 12 points! Appealed to tjc and attended about 5 of their trainings?!
(Seems like february was quite a busy month for me)
March:
Received school posting. As expected, i got posted to mjc. My appeal to tjc was also accepted. Seriously, i don't know what came over me but i stupidly - really stupidly - chose to go mjc instead. Even my og teacher couldn't understand my decision. Start of life in a whole new environment.. I didn't exactly liked my class. And i was in the same class with chenxi! Again.. Man..
April:
Study, study, study. If i'm not wrong, we had already started on project work by now. My group had to change topic about this time. Tests started coming in.. I think i did pretty well for a chemistry test this month. Got introduced to gunbound by sarah. Gave up yahoo pool and got addicted to this. Very addicted.
May:
More preparation for exams.. More stuff needed to be done for project work.. Stress piling up. Addiction for gb didn't stop and i knew it was gonna do me in.
June:
Intensive sailing training. Gave me a huge interest boost towards sailing. Got a lil worried about studies as well.. Mid-year exams were just after the hols but i didn't prepare, much less know the topics tested. Bonded with sailing team more. Had plenty of treats from the teachers lol.. I kinda miss this period of time.
July:
Screwed up mid-year's.. Scored a AO for chem, Fs for math and physics. How bad can it get.. Only consolation was B4s for both gp and chinese. Realised that i really had a lot to catch up on. There was also the inter-school sailing competition. I managed to beat shiru to be in the team - my goal! It was kinda unbelievable.. And i'm definitely proud of myself.
August:
More studying.. PW was also getting more stressful as we had to complete our research. I also got my boat - the known fave in the team.. M4! Got caught by principal, ms lai, for being late 5 times this year. She asked to see my parents about it. In actual fact, it was more for my results than my latecoming. Had a horrible 1h 'talk' with her. My other friends got nice 15min talks with her. How unfair. It was more of a scolding actually. I cried damn it! And it didn't help that my mom was on her side.
September:
Sailing stopped. Preparation for the promos grew more intense. Realised that i'll most probably fail this year. There was too much to catch up on. Kinda gave up.. I didn't really put in the effort to go improve myself.
October:
Promos.. Knew i screwed up once again. Exact same results as mid-year's. AO for chem, Fs for both math and physics and B4s for gp and chinese. PW got really tough.. Many late nights were spent on completing the written report, presentation slides and whatnots. It was getting very stressful. The day we had to hand in our written report was a whole disaster! We were the last group in our school to submit. The dateline was set up 3pm but we only got it done at about 7? Well, that was really nerve wrecking. But it gave me a high.. Somehow, i like this sorta rushing-against-time feeling. Knew my fate for next year too. Got retained. Lessons after the promos were all lectures. Was being naughty and skipped a whole lot of it. There was also open house. The organising and all was fun. The whole sailing team just came together to do the banners, bookmarks and all. Team bonding! And we had a bonus - CIP points! The end of the open house also showed me something - refer to first entry.
November:
Officially, the start of the school hols.. But mjc just had to extend school till 18nov. But well, since i knew i was not gonna get promoted, i skipped all lessons. Sailing training started again.. The final part of project work - oral presentation! Mrs Ghandi helped us alot in that - as you saw in previous entries. It was quite smooth 'cept for my presentation part. Well, i just hope i'll get a good grade for it. We also had to complete our group project file. That was another disaster! Bigger than the first one.. We couldn't even finish it on time! Plus, of all days, i had to leave important stuff at home. And the dateline was non-extendable. That was way crappy! I don't even know about the state of the file submitted now.
December:
The start of intensive sailing training with uncle tonny.. This time, the beginners joined us too. It was tough. I recall the first training with him.. He was just shouting and shouting all the way! Also participated in the Laser Radial Open. After being out of touch with sailing for such a long while, that competition just gave me a wakening call. It got me motivated to train even harder. The Laser Open was a better one. We got third for that.. By sheer luck no doubt but well.. Seniors' farewell was alright. Mr Koh is leaving us. I simply hate that! He's the most generous of the 3! Why him? Why not mr chia? Had a x'mas eve bbq. Going to have a new year's eve bbq again tomorrow..
That's 2004 for me.
As you can see, there are many gaps in between. I wish i can remember the details. It's probably hidden somewhere in that grey matter of mine and someday i'll be able to recall and add them in here.
Not forgetting the avian flu that got around asia. And the recent tsunami. It's sad really.. The latest death toll for the killer waves disaster is 68000. I feel for them.
Year 2004?
Eventful and unforgettable.
