Diary-x closed

All my contacts are gone! I thought nothing could go wrong if I saved my contacts online and lock it since the internet will never be lost. I guess I thought wrong. Anything can still happen. Drive failures can still happen. And there were also my most private thoughts that no one knew about. They are all lost.

Gone.

In the mood for some goodwill

This week has been a particularly busy week 'cause we sold SPCA merchandise and had an exhibition on Thursday and Friday. Bringing the merchandise to school was fraught with difficulties as they were so damn freaking heavy and since we were doing charity, we couldn't possibly take a cab. God was being playful that day I guess. The bus broke down on our way back to school! Of all times, of all days, of all the things I could have had in my hands, I had to have this huge load of 20kg (or thereabout) which I got to know later was worth a total of $850 to carry to the bus replacement. Great, oh just great. Right at this moment, a SRJC basketball player (number 20) who was coming to our school for a friendly match asked, "do you need any help?". -phwah!- A guy in shiny armor saving the damsel in distress. As in those fairytales.

After watching 'Born in Brothels' and doing this SPCA thing, I have changed much to the amusement of even myself. Suddenly, volunteering seems like such a meaningful thing to do. I think I'm going to do some after the A'levels. But no elderly please. Don't know how to handle them. Animals are alright. But kids.. They are the best.

Documentaries are my preferred television programmes now. Oh but these doesn't include any about Science, Mathematics and stuff like that. The truth is I didn't watch any of the Einstein shows we were supposed to watch.

Another thing to add onto my want-to-learn-after-the-A'levels list: Photography. I've been wanting to learn it from long ago when I saw how great my uncle's pictures looked in comparison to mine.

I simply can't fathom how my friends and Sarah for that matter, actually got past J2 year. It is crappy beyond belief. Everyday you come home and you just feel so tired. Although at the back of your mind, you know that you have to complete tutorials and assignments or study for tests, it is so difficult to bring yourself to do them 'cause you are totally drained. You feel so happy when the weekend comes but it passes by so fast and you don't get to catch up on rest 'cause you have CCA on one day and the other is spent studying. I didn't know life could be so tough. I don't know how so many people can come out of these 2 years and still say, 'oh those 2 years were the best in my life'. What nonsense.

So the results are coming out on Wednesday. The Day. It is going to be my turn next year and I think I'm going to do what Shauna is planning to do - Observe.

Don't feel like talking

Am feeling tired. So much so that I don't even want to open my mouth to talk. Since I reached home, I think I've been hostile to almost everyone. I want to go to sleep actually (my eyelids are really heavy) but guess what? I am dirty and I'm way too lazy to shower as yet. What a bummer!

I reckon I made Ms Seah really mad just now. Came late for PT but it wasn't delibrately ok. I had CIP stuff to do - my class is setting up a SPCA booth on Thursday and Friday and I'm part of the exco (don't I sound like one of those really charitable people?). When I reported for training, they were already ending so she asked me to run 2 rounds for warm up. Apparently, I ran super slow so she asked me to stop after the first. C'mon, since when has Teresa been known to be a strong long-d runner? Then lo and behold, in between push ups, she asked me to join Ms Choy and the netball girls (not the recreational but the school team!). Crap. They were doing drills and I was thinking what has jumping got to do with anything about sailing? We can jump on grass, courts, track but out at sea..? In the end, I simply horsed around and failed to do anything. Great for a big time slacker huh? Like what's new?

Anyway, I was sick again on Thursday. Took an early leave form (a green form!) and left school early. That's my first time taking an early leave form in God-knows-how-long. And I didn't go to school on Friday as well. My sixth time! Mr Lee is popping into Chemistry lesson on Thursday. I wonder if he'll say/do anything when he sees me 'cause he does remember! Gawd. At least it is some motivation to finally start attempting Chemistry tutorials. Yeah.

My family has been plagued with 'misfortunes' this 2 months. Now, it is my uncle's turn to be admitted into hospital. It is my umpteen time stepping into a hospital.

Oh it's been going around that Mrs Chong's daughter died last week. Very unfortunate. If I'm not wrong, she was born with a heart condition but I think she's just 1+ year old, the most 2 years old. Still so young. It was really brave of Mrs Chong to carry on with the pregnancy. But well, people come and go (I think I said this when my granddad died. There are just too many deaths recently). She's coming back tomorrow. I don't know but I have this morbid sense of curiosity to want to see how she is. Hope she's dealing with it well (which I heard otherwise).

God bless.

At random

I've stopped working! Friday was my last day and it went by without any huge hiccups. Can I say that that's such a rarity? Was working with Cindy at station 2. You know how she's like - forever Missing In Action and doing all that she's not supposed to do. Luckily, there was also Jannine. Finished all that I was supposed to do - give Mary Joy her souvenir from Thailand and Baby her birthday present. Which reminds me, today's her birthday! Got to write a testimonial. Ah crap, no time!

Polina is leaving this Friday. She's one of the best people I've met at Swensons. Actually, most of my colleagues are equally nice with the exception of a few whom I'd rather not name (incidentally, they are all linked to Cindy one way or another).

Now I know why so many adults say they would rather studying than work. It's so monotonous. Everything is done over and over again day in day out. It bored the life out of me. The only consolation is the people (provided you have nice colleagues like most of mine) and of course -chink chink!- the money. For about 3 months of work, I've earned slightly over a thousand dollars. Pathetic! Okay, reminder to self: you have to start from the bottom.

An end to something to kick off the start of another. And in this case it's work for sailing.

Rusty, rusty, rusty! Tired, tired, tired! Horrid, horrid, horrid! After yesterday (the first training in eons), I must say, I don't want to sail anymore! Wind sucked. It was way too strong for comfort. What more with me not having any serious training since Nationals last year. I hiked till my butt and legs hurt (and they are still hurting now by the way). Towards the end of it, my focus just flew away and -bang bang!- I hit 2 boats. Great, oh just great. It was torture at its best. And Amanda said today that she hasn't seen me sailing that bad in a long long time.

See! I shouldn't sail anymore! I told Mr Aidil that but he just wouldn't believe. -sigh- I just can't stand watching the downfall of myself. -sigh-

P.s. Sabrina, there was something wrong with my tagboard. Just couldn't tag so here's my email address: benjas_adn_87@hotmail.com.

Message in a bottle

Now I know why everyone was raving about Nicholas Sparks's books back in 2004. Just finished a book and it totally got to me. Very touching indeed.

Note to self: Borrow his range of books from Amanda.

I think my eye is super sensitive/weak. Keep succumbing to infections. Maybe it's because of the huge amounts of UV rays it has 'absorbed'? Got it again so I didn't go school today. A free day! But my assignments are still undone.

Homework sucks.

Chinese new year was just a lot of feasting and gambling. Few people visited Ah Ma this year and since we couldn't go out to visit people, hongbao collection was just half of previous years. Much of the time was spent playing mahjong. All in all, I lost less than 10 bucks. Not too bad.

Have I said I love Chinese new year goodies? Bak kua, kueh lapis, pineapple tarts, kueh balu, cookies, sugees, chocolates, nuts etc etc etc. Absolutely mouth watering. I reckon I've gained a kilo or two this new year. Either that or my ass has grown bigger. -uhuh-

I am a 24 year old working adult on the verge of slipping into a quarter-life crisis. Wanderlust has hit me and I am trying to figure out how to be a long-term traveller. This space documents my experiences since I was a 17 year old student and is also an outlet for the thoughts swimming in my head.
