Night shift is scary!

So it's true that night shift is super busy. Heard that Janice spilt water on a woman last night and Baby and Mary broke ice cream glasses. Woah so much action! No wonder the managers were just saying yesterday that no one never break dishes/glasses before. =D

Am so going to catch Janice after work later to fish out the details. -grins-

Now I don't look forward to this Sunday that much any more. -haha-

Sunday, October 30, 2005 @ 5:30 PM
3rd day at work

Today's my first day without Janice. I thought it would be pretty bad, i.e I will be a loner and take lunch alone and all, but as it turned out, it wasn't that bad afterall! Joy (she tried to teach me how to carry the tray), Sheena (she's new too. Today's only her second day), Fion, the dishwashing aunties and me had lunch together. So yes, I wasn't alone.

Ida (supervisor) made me take my first order today. Pretty cool. It's definitely much easier than carrying the tray. I'd much rather take orders.

Swensons is quite a good place to learn the tricks of the trade 'cause the environment is relaxed and the people, flexible. Well, at least you can joke around with the people up there. By that I mean managers and supervisors. Sir Daniel (one of the assistant managers) said that if you can work at Tampines Swensons, you can work anywhere else.

Sabrina (another one of the assistant managers and also our trainer) gave me feedback today. Okay, so it was good that I smiled. But she said I had a short attention span. -haha- Apparently, I was looking at the passers-by quite often and not taking care of the floor that diligently. Well well well.. I was bored. =D

They say the busiest hours are at night. I pray for Janice. -haha- She's rostered to work at night from today till next Sunday. Poor girl. I'm so looking forward to next Sunday! 'Cause she and me will be working together again. Woot!

Thursday, October 27, 2005 @ 11:47 PM
First day at work

My job today was to serve and refill water and clear soiled dishes and table. Pretty easy tasks. Janice and me were definitely feeling bored often. Very often.

Well, the managers are quite ok for now. The supervisors are quite ok. The people.. overall they're quite ok too. Overall. 'Cause as always, there will be some black sheeps around.

I was particularly pissed when this girl, Ivy, asked me to serve water when she was the one who was asked to do it. Classic example of bullying newbies. What the *toot*! I showed them the why-do-you-ask-me-to-do-this face and I guess they know I'm not one to be trifled with. At least not an easy target to bully. -grins- Honestly, I don't have a good impression of the Chinese girls there. The Malays are nice nice people.

I look in awe as some of them carry a full tray of soiled dishes on one hand. 2 tall glasses are very heavy as it is. I just can't imagine myself doing that. But I think I'll have to do so one day. You see, we have to clear the table/tables all at one go. So if there's 5 tables joined together, you'll have to clear 10 persons dishes all together. Big big challenge.

Even though it's the vacations and we are not in school, we weren't let off studying. What crap. 2 sets of notes to gain all the knowledge of the food and ice cream menu. In total, I think that's about 10 full pages in small print. What crap. And since we're JC students, we're only given a week to study all those before a test is given. How school-like. I guess they think we're smarter? -grins- After that, we'll be able to take orders and all. I'm hoping work then will be a lot less boring.

Okay am off tomorrow. Working on Saturday and Sunday. And Janice is not going to be with me on Sunday! Ahhh! Well let's see how it goes.

Wednesday, October 26, 2005 @ 6:48 PM
My second job!

Believe it or not, I've got a job! Right in the heart of Tampines at Swensons. We didn't think it would go this smooth; the manager gave us the job right on the day we applied, i.e today. So Janice and me are going to start working there tomorrow together. Goody goody! I hope this turns out well.. I hope the people there are cool. I hope I pick things up fast. I hope my pay per hour will increase in a month. It's now a quite pathetic $4.50 per hour.. which ain't that good actually. But heck! At least money starts rolling in from tomorrow. =D

Then 30 minutes after I agreed to take up the job, Grace messaged, 'Teresa! Want a job? A day 80. 930 to 930. At tm. Nov 17 to 25'. Woah I couldn't believe how 'unlucky' I was. 80 bucks a day is freaking good money! That times the number of days.. 720 bucks! Gosh! When I want lobang, lobang don't come. When I don't want lobang, lobang comes. -sigh-

Anyhow, I'm tired. Played gunbound the whole of last night. Well, almost - from 1am to 5am. That means I've had only 1 hour of sleep. And that also means that I was late for school today again. So my eyelids are drooping right now and I'm so going to head to bed soon. Got to wake up early tomorrow and it's going to be a busy busy day.

I'm having mixed feelings - excitement and nervousness. -bleah-

The things in my head

My my, it was raining so heavily just now, I think it might just be a typhoon of sorts. Howling winds broke another of the potted plants outside my house. It's the second time in 2 weeks! So many natural disasters and wierd weather stuff in recent times, is the end of the world coming?

Oh oh guess what? If there is really such a thing as the end of the world, I want it to happen in my lifetime! Fancy going through something that your great great great great great great great great ( to the power of.. perhaps infinity?) grandparents and all the other generations of people in between and all the future generations of people didn't/won't go through. Way cool! -grins-

Went for a walk-in interview with Kent at Eastpoint's Jack's Place just now. The rate is $4.50 per hour (low!) and you've to get your own white blouse, black pants and black shoes (what a great amount of money to spend even before earning the dollars!). They said they will call within the next 3 days. Better keep my handphone by my side at all times! -hmm- Maybe I should not have it on silent mode from now till Friday. If I land this job, the next time I go work at Jack's Place, I'll be getting $7 per hour. That's -woah- darn high la! If I don't, there's still Wild Wild Wet to try for. And of couse, TM tomorrow. =D

Then I took a bus to Bedok to get some snacks. 10 unhealthy/sinful goreng pisang to be exact. Bedok has the nicest food on earth. Pity I don't go there too often.

The time at Bedok and the journey home brought back a lot of memories.

Food centre: Uncle Tonny brought Ming, Shauna, Amanda and me there for breakfast before one of the regatta days at SAFYC (Changi) during December hols last year. It was quite odd seeing him eat fried carrot cake. I had thought he would be for healthy eating. Now that explains the belly.

Bedok bus interchange: When I was in Sec 1 and Dana was still in sailing, we would always take go to the interchange to take a bus home after training. Since the berth for bus service number 7 (Dana's bus home) and bus service number 40 (my bus home) are right beside each other, I would always contemplate on which bus to take. More often than not, I would end up taking number 7. Quite stupid of me actually. Then there was also Jason who stayed pretty close to me. We would talk throughout the whole ride. I had a crush on him then. God knows why. Crap.

Siglap: Nurfarhana treated the whole group of us to Gelare on her 16th birthday. Fun fun fun! You see, she and me used to be very close as we sat beside each other but we drifted away 'cause stuff happened. But we ended up in the same class and in the same clique in Sec 3 and 4. Now that's what you call fate. Further down the road, there was a building that I remembered Dana saying it resembled those in the US. Then, I was thinking, 'huh? It can't be that old and ugly'. Today, the exact same thing went through my mind.

East Coast road: There is this wanton mee store which dad brought us to a long long time ago. I remember we were all starving and yet we had to wait 45minutes for the food. The wanton mee tasted really delicious by then. And the famous Katong laksa! Have tried the no.49 one and the one beside the church (amanda's mom brought us there for lunch on one of the boring inter-school sailing (boys) days in Sec 4). Both equally yummy! -stomach growling- Katong Shopping Centre.. I used go bowling there almost everyday in Sec 1. I think we were one of the most regular customers. There, everything was cheap. Shoes were cheap and games were cheap too. Just perfect.

Tanjong Katong Road: The 7-11 that I used to go to everyday in Sec 1 is now changed to Day and Night. There's even a table and benches provided for those who want to eat there. How good! Those days, there would be a regular group of us from TK sitting on the floor and eating cup noodles everyday. That was how I got to know Xinlei (she didn't have a good impression of me at that time). We even made friends with the cashier and were upset when they had to close the outlet.

-sigh-

What a long entry.

Memories. Good memories.

Learning Agora 2005

Open house was on Friday. I was right to not look forward to it. The whole affair was just dead and boring. The only fun I had was trying out other ccas' games and random looking at stuff that was on sale. And people could wonder why there were so few visitors. Duh! Those students would rather go to Sajc or Rjc open house. Other than them being better schools than us, they also guarantee a more happening open house at the very least. The event totally spoilt my day; so much so, I didn't talk to anyone when I got home.

Last year, the spirits were high. We didn't need to have anyone call us to do mass dance. Unlike this year. What fun is there? Tell me.

Thank God I'll not be doing it for another year. Those people should really use this one year to think hard and come up with something better next year.

Thursday, October 20, 2005 @ 10:36 PM
It is not so fun anymore

Ran 2km today. All these exercising are making me feel very good indeed. :)

I had thought that preparation for the open house would be a fun-filled affair like last year. Alas, it was not to be. I still remember us painting the banner and making the bookmarks of sort. Though they weren't exactly nice, but the fun we had during the process was definitely memorable. It was a team bonding session when everyone talked, joked and laughed. Now it's totally different this year. Not even 1 hour into preparation and you could see that no one really wanted to be there. It was obvious that everyone was uncomfortable with everyone. Seriously, I don't want to be vice-capt of such a team.

All of last year, whatever activities with the sailors would rank up there as the fun-nest of all activities. This year, unfortunately, it would rank up there as the boring-est/horrib-iest of activities. In fact, I had the most fun with my classmates just now. I really wonder what will happen tomorrow. Our booth is bare. We don't even have the table there yet. And the stuff that are supposed to be distributed.. crap.

My batch of sailors are the best one can ever ask for. These are the people I want to and will bother to keep in touch with. These are the people J had bonded and experienced so much with. These are the people I will remember and hope to grow old with. These are the people that I don't want to see them leave. I hate to think that they will not be around school next year.

I'm so proud of myself

Peimun and me went gym-ming today. 10 minutes of rowing, 170 leg raises, 160 crunches, 500m jog, 20 reps of ab exercise and some other minor stuff. Now that's alot of ab exercise I did. Hope tomorrow the line will be longer. Or better, give me a flat stomach please!

Thing is.. I drank a packet of Milo, ate a packet of apple crumble, drank a bowl of Campbell soup, ate a slice of Swiss roll and am now drinking a huge cup of bubble tea after those exercises. Uh uh uh. But considering that I only ate a curry puff and 1 1/2 hotdog bun today, that's not too much right? We'll see how that goes.

Another gym session tomorrow. More ab exercises for me! Must get flat stomach so that I can go Sentosa/beaches in a bikini during December hols. -grins- Eh, legs are feeling a little sore now. Bad.

Got back most Promo results already. B for Math, D for Chem and C6 for GP. Truth is I ain't too satisfied with them. Math and Chem were both disappointments as I definitely think I could have done so much better. A and C respectively to be exact. GP was, well, expected. But I still ain't too happy all the same. How could I, a B4 standard student for GP, drop to such a pathetic state? I never did have to worry about it last year even though I slept in class, didn't read through notes and didn't put any effort into anything GP at all. This year, it's been a mess. I'm either failing or having mediocre passes. I think I lack focus. Look at how I did my essay and you'll know. Man, this is so gonna screw me upside down.

I made a nice discovery today. I was told that Ms **** is crooked. Ooo la la! That's something new. Something really unexpected. But it's cool. I wonder if she's the guy or the girl. -haha- Okay I shall talk to her more from now on. I love finding out more about this kind of people. They are just so.. interesting.

Sunday, October 16, 2005 @ 9:16 AM
Ooo.. so much food

Yes, so much that we had tons of leftovers. There was a buffet at my house last night. Everyone in my extended family came 'cept for Uncle Lee Ming - duh! He's in China. Food was above average but they weren't exactly the kind you could go for a third or fourth helping. So Sarah and I, very well known for being the super big eaters in our family, stopped at a pathetic second helping.

There were loads of talk and laughter! Then a few games of bridge. Am seriously hooked on that game again. It's tough - and I mean really tough - teaching and explaining how to play bridge to primary school kids. And that was at 11pm? Was getting tired and patience definitely starting to wear thin. Thank goodness I had the movie to excuse myself from the last game. -phew-

On Friday - fever day, I weighed myself and it registered 51.5kg. -yay!- Yesterday morning, it was still 51.5kg. -yay!- Then last night it went up! Crap. I weighed 52kg! -boo!- Now I'm still 52kg! Ahhhh. This is bad. I want to be 48kg! My cousin's about 1.7m and she weighs 49kg. I must be 48kg at the end of this year.

Mission Fats: Lead a sedentary lifestyle. That I mean stay at home all day in front of the computer or watching TV. And eat a bowl of soya beancurd (tau huey) everyday. Yes, just that everyday.

Tried and tested! Guaranteed results! Weight lost not easily regained!

Who knows it better than I?

Words coming from the sick

Woah long long time never blog already. I busy last few days what. Go out and trying new thing now. Do online surveys for money. Don't know whether will turn out well or not. But I earned US$0.15 already. Ok lah, very pathetic. But eh I only started on Wednesday so I confident it will turn out better.

Got very bad sore throat after char kuey tiao for lunch yesterday. Then, couldn't sleep at night 'cause got fever. Running a temperature - no joke lor! Want to sleep also cannot sleep. So I knew my sister chatted on the phone the whole night. Today got Science exam some more. And she still can tell Mummy that paper was difficult. Of course lah! When you go for exam with only 15 minutes sleep, you'll find any paper difficult. Stupid.

So today didn't go school 'cause was having headache in the morning too. Teacher confirm won't believe I really sick. Confirm chop stamp! Eh but today she didn't call my house leh. Quite surprising. So Monday, must have 2 letters for her. One for Wednesday and another for today. Went to school on Thursday even though had nothing on. Unbelievable? And 'cause of that, got another late record again. 7 times this year already. If I'm record holder for latecoming in school now, it's so expected.

Oh phobos champion for inter-house floorball. So proud of them. And Peimun still can say she cannot make it. Nonsense lor! If not how you all win? And I saw Ms Seah in action. Woah she damn pro lah! National player jiu4 si4 national player lor! Standard so high. She can say, 'I want to score now' and score and goal nice nice one some more. Wahliao! If i can reach that kind of standard in sailing good already. Though I dare say I'm more than halfway there. -grins- I'm not that unpro ok! =D

Can't believe I almost forgot about this. Stupid, idiotic Wong CC confiscated my poker cards on Thursday! Ya lah we not supposed to play in the canteen. But really got nothing to do lor! So boring. And we were playing bridge lah! Intellectual game! Need to use brain. Even Intellectual Club plays it. Who ask them force us to go school when we don't even have anything on. Other teachers see also don't care. Only he must care. Stupid. Still remember last year, first time see him, he ran down LT4 and shout shout shout like some mad commander. Crazy! Still can have wife. Can't believe it.

Oh yesss!!

It's over!!!

The crazy, disgusting, irritating, undesirable, unpleasant Promos is over!!

Time to celebrate! -shakes booty- :)
And the list of 'celebrations':
Today - Gunbound, Gunbound, Gunbound!
Tomorrow - Trip to Tan Tock Seng as Sarah has to see a doctor (okay this is not exactly a happy happy thing but i haven't been there in ages - should count my blessings - and wouldn't mind going there tomorrow). I didn't go in the end (edited)
Wednesday - Outing with samantha (tk)
Thursday - Hmm no plans yet. Maybe should go watch Corpse Bride. I had to go to school much to my displeasure (edited)
Friday - Back to school to go work out with peimun. Postponed to next week. (edited)
Saturday - Sailing (tentative) and buffet at my house! Food makes me happy! We can't go sailing as boats are under inspection. (edited)

Oh and the fact that i don't have to be at school till next monday makes me happy too!

Today's papers: Math and Physics.
Math was quite alright i guess. But i made a whole lot of careless mistakes and am hoping they won't kill me too bad. As for physics, well it's the usual. I finished 2 hours before time. That means i took only 1 hour to finish a 3 hours paper. You can imagine just how bad it is. -haha-

The show 'My Date with A Vampire' rocks my socks! I actually stayed up till 1am last night to watch it though i have 2 papers today and i hadn't even started reading my physics notes. Did i mention that i went into the exam hall for physics with 1 1/2 hours of reading notes? Yes that was all i did.

So now after every sunday, i will be willing the week to pass faster so that i can catch another episode. One day has passed. It's now tuesday. 5 more days to go!

Thursday, October 06, 2005 @ 11:46 PM
As i was passing by..

I saw Quality Hotel Singapore. No, that isn't the name of a hospitality school. It's the name of a hotel! Can you believe it? I personally find it very amusing.

One more paper down. Chemistry.. It was not too difficult i guess. But ain't that easy either. It's still a 'i'm hoping i can pass' kinda thing. Organic chem was how i expected it. Tough. Plus the fact that i got everything mixed up. -sigh-

Physics and math to go. The former being a goner. So now i shall pia and really chiong for math. Last chance!

@ 2:11 AM
Serenade me

Just finished studying chem (first round). At the last part, was pretty much just reading off notes. Bad. Off to bed! So that i can wake up early tomorrow to re-revise. They say that your brain organises information while you're sleeping. Hope it works that way indeed. Sure need it.

Heard Shan play the guitar and sing on the radio just now. Woah.. so nice! I wish that there's someone to serenade me tonight. :)

Wednesday, October 05, 2005 @ 12:47 PM
1 down 3 more to go

It was GP today and there's only one word to describe it - screwed.

Tomorrow's chem. We'll see how bad that one goes.

Monday, October 03, 2005 @ 10:54 PM
Dear God

Please give me the strength, determination and resolve to get cracking and go study.

Promos in 2 days and i practically haven't started on anything. Now that's bad. And seriously, i'm starting to freak out so that's double bad.

In primary school, we would say a prayer during morning assembly on every examination day. At that time, i was thinking, what for? Then i went to secondary school and we didn't have to pray before school everyday, i began to miss it. Seriously. When i accompanied my sis to sac on the very first day, and there were prayers and singing of hymns, it felt so much like ccps again.

Father, help me to remember what i've studied and learnt. Help me to think, write clearly and quickly. Help me to be calm so that i'll do myself justice. Help me to do my best. This i ask you, Christ my Lord, Amen.

-I'm not a Christian/Catholic wanna-be. I'm a free thinker who wants to remain a free thinker. But of course, i believe there's a greater being up there. Usually-

Sunday, October 02, 2005 @ 9:01 PM
What a bother!

Msn is not allowing me to sign in! But my sis can!

What the hell?

After this weekend, i know i definitely can't stay at home to study. The computer, tv and bed are just way too tempting.

Saturday, October 01, 2005 @ 9:52 PM
1st October

Happy Children's Day!!

The one day that i so looked forward in primary school but not anymore.
In the eyes of the world, we're kids no more. =(

I celebrated by not touching my books today. Slack slack slack.

There's been alot of talk 'bout teachers recently.

Teachers vs Students.. -hmm- something to think about. Probably after promos.
