The war and the armorI put on my strongest, shinest armor as advised by General J before entering the room 'cause she had intelligence that there were four cannons positioned there. When I stepped into the room, there they were, all four of them aiming at me, waiting to fire on the command of the commander-in-chief. At first, I didn't know why. Then I realised, it must be because of that. It must be. As I settled in, out came a cannon ball. But I managed to dodge it. Nonetheless, some fragments found their way to me. Fortunately, there was the armor. My strongest armor and as always, it didn't fail me.
What a close shave. I returned to my room, removed the armor and took a rest. Reflecting on what the commander-in-chief did. Was there really a need for him to do that?
Some time later, laughter could be heard outside. Kids' innocent laughter. The area has been given the all-clear sign. No imminent danger in close proximity. Or so I thought. I went out to get a breather. After all, I needed to meet The Ring at The Valley Inn in about half hour. There was no harm in taking the longer route and looking at what the scenery had to offer.
Suddenly, the commander-in-chief appeared right before me. And there were the cannons again, only this time there were three and each had a general behind it. One was called General S and the other, General M. This time there was no escape. I was stuck in this horrendous alley where the three cannons together was the width of it. Stupid, stupid me to have thought that they would let me off.
Fire! Miraculously, it missed me. How lucky. But I heard a faint voice that went 'ouch!'. I looked around to find no one except for them and me. Now, where could that voice have come from? Then, I remembered. She was there all along, invisible, right by my side. They saw her! So I wasn't the one they were after. She was the one who always supported me, the person I loved the most and I most definitely couldn't let her go down like that. I had to stand up for her. And they left me there crying, fending for her and myself.

The last two weeks of term 2 were quite a mess. Trainings became more rigorous. A new exco had to be chosen and I can't say for sure if we made the correct decisions. There was PFT to do and I'm glad to say that I've finally passed it! Through sheer grit and determination (and with the help of friends), I managed to complete the 2.4km run with a timing I haven't attained since Secondary 2. This is what you call end with style. I finally scored an AO for a Physics test. Let me give you an idea of how much a feat that is: I haven't scored a grade other than F for my Physics ever. Not once in my 3 years studying it here. That's how bad it is. The study workload became heavier and from the previous week, I was really just trying to get by each day, counting down the days to the June vacations although it will be no less hectic. But at least I will be doing something I love. Something that I had a goal that I know I'm just this close to achieving it. There was also the band concert which was very disappointing in my terms. This is the first concert I have ever been to that doesn't have an encore piece to offer. Oh and not forgetting the national soccer championship finals. We went in champions but came out runners-up. It was crap. The fact that the we conceded 3 goals in ten minutes is just unforgivable. Totally upsetting. To think I lost my voice over that. And that voice ain't coming back as yet.
You know, another one of my primary schoolmates is in a singing competition. This time it is the Singapore Idol. Jasmine Tye was a classmate but we got separated in Primary 5 and 6 when she appealed to be in EM1 and got through. It is only today that the name rang a bell. Wow wow, all my primary schoolmates are turning out to be such wonderful babes with singing talents! Remember Ruth Chua from Project Superstar? Yeah, she was my primary schoolmate (once classmate) too. What happened to me then? No singing nor dancing talent. How sad. If only I was bestowed a dancing talent, I will be happy happy girl.

Bull crap!I was conferred the title 'GP Guru' by my GP tutor today. -big grin- But as you can see from above, it's totally nonsense.
My room belongs to me and only me now and for the next 2 months. My sister has flown to the faraway land of China last Thursday, leaving me behind to suffer the shitty-ness of JC life alone. And she just sent me an email telling me:
- how her colleagues over there give her vvip treatment the first day she went to work
- how they are such a nice bunch of people to work with
- how she has been feasting on good food
- how she doesn't mind not coming back that soon
- how she just climbed more than 1000 steps at nanshan and her legs are aching now
Arghhh!!! This is so unfair!
I don't care. Next year, it's my turn!
On another note, I finally have a DVD player. Yay, yay, yay. And SCV may also be up soon. That's a big 'may' though.
I want to fly away, into the skies, to the land of China.
Right Now!

BagsJust as how undesirable bags are in a game of spades, bags on eyes (i.e. eye bags) are a big no-no for women. And I have them! The realisation only dawned on me when I was looking at the mirror at the airport's basement washroom where a couple of other air stewardesses were dolling up, making themselves look as though they have perfectly flawless skin. By that, I mean fair complexion with not a single dark spot whatsoever. So there I was lamenting how eye rings and bags show just how life sucks for us JC students when WH said, "but you're so dark already. The eye bags aren't so obvious
lah". Made me want to smack her upside down.
Had a feast at Sakae Sushi today to alleviate some of the misery of having to do the 2.4km run all over again. -laughs- Of course that isn't the only reason. I love Japanese food is another. Jan and me treated WH as her birthday present for the year 2005. Don't even start on how late the gift is.
Technology has really penetrated into many aspects of our lives. Now, even ordering is self-service with a LCD screen and a mouse. Can you imagine? Perhaps in the future we won't even need waitresses anymore. I guess computers would definitely be very necessary in a buffet when waitresses come along to check the time oh-so-discreetly every few minutes. These people don't deserve to be there because they couldn't even fulfil the basic requirement of making their customers feel comfortable and welcomed.
Since we ate so much, gorged ourselves to be exact, we could hardly walk after that. It is at this point of time that you realise that the airport is sorely lacking in comfortable seats, save for those in dining areas. Our last resort was to dine at Swensons to take advantage of their pretty good seats. That means only one thing: more eating! Ice-cream now. I can just feel all those calories in me now. The sinful whipped cream, the fattening ice cream and other whatnots in the Coit Tower. Sir Steven was on duty so there were more calories on the way - malteses and waffle. He was saying if I wanted to go work at Swensons, I could go there. Comforting to know that there's a job 'waiting' for me at the end of A'levels.
All those calories consumed today has got to go out. Just a matter of how. Maybe I will run tomorrow. For the sake of calories and of course, that dreadful 2.4km run.

PFTThe dreaded Physical Fitness Test started this week. Every PE lesson, you see people either running the 2.4km or doing the 5 stations. Every girl came out flushed red (is this the correct phrase?) in the face. Well, most of them did.
The 2.4km runFor some, it was just another routine run, nothing much. For some others, there were jitters, butterflies in the stomach. Sadly, I belonged to the latter group. The skies didn't help much by raining and stopping just as the bell rang for PE. Wet track, humid air, here we go.
Our guys were doing lap counting for us. Now, here's the chance. Here's the chance to cheat! Oh, but being the morally upright person I am, I didn't take it, not knowing that I would regret it so much later.
First round: Doing fine. Still breathing well.
Second round: Pretty fine. Tell myself that this is just early stages. I don't want to freaking put myself through all this torture anymore so I had better pass this time. Carry on running!
Third round: Beginning to tire. Breathing is starting to get quite heavy.
Fourth round: No I can't take it anymore. Start walking. No, no, no, this is not my plan! I'm not sticking to my plan to only start walking on the fifth round! Okay, I'll walk now and not walk on my last round.
Fifth round: Okay, just one more round to go. Walk till that line then start running. No I cannot take it! Start walking.
Last round: Shit, shit, shit! Did KY say 14.18? Crap, how am I suppose to make it there in 2 minutes? Okay, walk till that line, that yellow line and start running. A little bit more now, no more after this, start sprinting!
As I crossed the line, E Chua announced, 17.01. I was so pissed. I was so disappointed. Knew I screwed it up not because I couldn't do it but because I lacked the determination to. Then, I thought, I should have cheated instead. Then I wouldn't have to suffer all this agony again. But now I do. And the next time I run, I will pass. I had better pass.
So it didn't start off too good. I didn't manage to get that D for my 2.4km run.
The 5 stationsAnother of my Achilles' Heel beckoned. The standing broad jump. Often, I wondered how people could jump so far, some even beyond the mat. Try as I might, I could never go beyond 170cm. Usually, I barely made it with a 165cm.
Today was no different.
First try: 163cm
Second try: Fault
Third try: Fault
Fourth try: Fault
Fifth try: Fault
Sixth try: 173cm (although
I think I could have shifted my feet just a bit)
Praise to Lim LM for allowing me to jump till I made it. Praise to my classmates who waited so patiently and gave support to the two of us (obviously, I wasn't the only one who was bad at the standing broad jump).
The rest of the stations were uneventful.
Final score:
Inclined pull-up: A
Shuttle run: B (after I ran a 12.2 seconds - an E - the first time round)
Sit-up: A
Standing broad jump: D (I was just 1cm to getting a C but all's good)
Sit & reach: A
It is wierd how one of the 5 stations always tries to do me in but in the end, I get out of it safe and sound. Last year, it was the shuttle run. I had to 'beg' D Foo to let me run another time just so that I could get at least a D. That after 3 attempts. This year, it is the standing broad jump and more ridiculous than ever, I managed to do it after 5 attempts. 6 attempts altogether, can you believe it? 6 attempts!
Okay, so now 5 stations is down. Just the 2.4km run holding me back from the games. I think I have the fire to run now. That want. That determination. That desire to not go back to doing those horrid standing broad jumps ever again.
