RandomsSissy S is on her first, albeit uber short, business trip now. Can I just say ENVIOUSSSSSS. S said my current msn personal message is very friendly. Haha. That I agree. I can't believe I'm saying this: I quite like Twilight movies. Private Practice is on my mind EVERY SINGLE DAY. Some spell they put on me. I have just added a drama to my list of dramas to follow every week - 就想赖着你. Having chocolate cravings. Or rather, dessert cravings. This sem is the sem of failed gathering plans. I don't think I've ever had this many meetup plans fall through. What's with Americans and calling their dads 'Big Daddy'? G's Facebook status totally cracked me up: 'needs to attach some solar panels to herself cos she needs the extra energy to crawl on'. Talk about environment sustainability. Haha. Did you know Ris Low is on radio? That girl's amazing.

Wonder girls indeed.
I'm slow; I just watched this music video. Really incredible how they made such simple actions a huge phenomenon around the world.

I'm blessed with good people around me!I proclaim uni life to be hazardous to one's weight. Damn, I realised I put on some more than 5kg since entering uni can! I'm now the heaviest I've ever been. ): I want my flat tummy. I want a jaw line. I want slim cheeks. I want toned legs. I don't want to exercise. :/
It's sure time to put that soya bean diet to use. But at the same time, I can't 'cause my 4-month old cough is STILL here to stay. Ah ma said the husk is cooling. And I'm super sensitive to cooling stuff. Even green bean soup or chicken is enough to trigger a coughing episode. Aunty J was so nice; She gave me a bottle of cod liver old tablets 'cause it's supposed to help. She said I could be having the '100-day cough'. I did my math and exclaimed, but it has been more than 100 days! So I went to google this whole 100-day cough thing and it turns out I could be having this whooping cough 'cause my symptoms are very similar. Still! It's way past the average duration. BAH. I want my cold stuff!
Anyway, very terrible three weeks ahead 'cause have 4 project deadlines and all are still not quite there. SIGH.

Closing time
This song really brings back memories of studying at SMU (especially the library) back in Year 1.

To do or not to do - that is the question.I wish I was doing more productive things the past few days but the truth is I wasn't. I watched one too many movies instead.
1. Alvin and the Chipmunks 2. Law-abiding Citizen 3. Hua Mulan (Zhao Wei version) 4. Happy Feet 5. Up in the Air 6. Astroboy 7. The Rebound 8. Some movie Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant acted in 9. Sherlock Holmes 10. An Education
I stopped after reaching number 10 suddenly realising how much time I've wasted. Up in the Air portrays the kind of jet-setting (did I get this word right?) lifestyle I hope to achieve sometime in my career. Perhaps not so extreme but you get the idea. Also, if only someone produced An Education earlier and not at the absolutely last stage of my study life. Maybe, just maybe, it will change things.
But you know what they say about 'I regret..', 'if only..', 'I wish', etc. Here I'm reminded of a line in Law-abiding Citizen - making a decision is not the hard part, it is living with it that is.
P.s. Interestingly, I once came across a study which found that people's regrets are usually of things we didn't do rather than did. I can't remember the exact numbers but the proportion was something like 3:1 (didn't do versus did). Overwhelming isn't it? They attributed this result to people not knowing the consequences of options they didn't choose. This being the case, it is left to imagination and our ideas tend to be ideal outcomes conjured by our mind. The logic is akin to the phrase 'the grass is greener on the other side'.

'Wisdom' toothI seriously don't get why the wisdom tooth is called the wisdom tooth. It should be called the dumb tooth instead. I mean, if it's so wise, why couldn't it figure out the right direction to grow and spare so many people the torture of extracting it.. including me. Grr. So 17 March 8pm marked my act of bravery for 2010 - extracting my wisdom tooth!
Left: Reward for bravery. Right: Consequence of bravery.
The left side of my face actually swelled up during the procedure! The dentist said it's the first time he's seen someone swell up this fast. Oh well! At least the entire extraction process was painless (took 5 syringes of anesthetic) and there's no pain now too! I haven't taken any painkillers today and it's only my second day though the swell is still there. Terrible swell for pain. Good tradeoff? Now I know what the long MC is for. It's for the face that can't see the world! Can't quite eat 'cause I can't open my mouth much due to the swell (not the pain unlike some others) so it makes a good time to finally attempt to lose weight! Swell projects a fat me and it's not pleasing. Detox time!

The lull before the storm. This week has been surprisingly relaxing. Or maybe it's just relative because having a only-one-deadline week is such a rarity these days. Of course this deadline does not include the forum posting I've to get done by Saturday as that pales in comparison with the effort needed for papers, presentations, and proposals, all of which I have been bombarded with since the end of the mockery that is my recess week.
As such, I haven't had the time to do random surfing 'cause my daily internet routine of reading blogs, visiting twitter, IVLE, Hotmail, NUS mail, Facebook (every 2 days or so), and skimming through the Channelnewsasia website means that the must-dos already take up a good amount of precious time. What a waste of time. But anyway! So I took this afternoon (lull before the storm - 3 deadlines next week!) to do what I usually do when I'm not this busy - trawl the web. Couple of reads I came across the last few tens of minutes:
A Glossary of Coffee Terms - Sissy S and I were just discussing about the difference between cappucino and latte yesterday. I was right about the foam.
Braking Bad - May I never never make this mistake even though I accidentally shifted to 4th gear instead of 2nd twice on Monday.
Oscar and Me - Stumbled on this in a daily blog read.

REJOICE!IT'S FINALLY RAINING!!!
It's such a significant moment I rendered it important enough to disrupt my chionging of a 2000-word essay before the deadline at 5pm today to blog about it.
Now back to essay!
Hmm, the rain seems to be stopping.

OHNO.Stick driving ain't easy! My car stalled like don't know how many thousand times (even consecutively twice at a traffic light). I shifted to wrong gear twice as well. Got honked trying to change lane. Jam-braked. And! I even almost crashed into a bus 'cause I was busy figuring out if I shifted the gear correctly. Damn, I think I'm not cut out for driving! >.<
On another note, Earth is really mad at us. Earthquakes are occurring so often that when I hear of one on the news, my first reaction is, 'AGAIN?!'. And how about the freakng hot weather we're experiencing here? Earth sucks us dry and refuses to return the water back to us. GRRR.
Came across this article - funny how we can put a figure to the ideal number of friends one should have.

The concept of familySissy S and I had one of those can-talk-through-the-night-despite-tiredness chats on Tuesday night. It was like going back to those days in Suzhou when the two of us would sit on the two black chairs in the living room having never-ending talks about people and gaining new perspectives at the end of it. And it wouldn't have stopped that night if I wasn't desperately fighting against time in my preparations for a midterm on Wednesday. Ah work life! Colleagues, office politics and intentions aplenty. Uncle LM said before that we're lucky 'cause we can come back and discuss about issues. How true!
Sissy R and I went for Suki Sushi buffet today 'cause I was craving some Japanese food and it was the nearest and cheapest. Have to save money for driving lessons! Anyway, I thought it wasn't too bad. Not fantastic but not that bad either. Definitely value-for-money considering sashimi (which are acceptable by my not-too-high standard) is served. A place I'll return.
I'm glad that we were brought up in an environment that fostered a strong concept of family in us. Family is when you can discuss about issues,be granted favours without the expectation for it to be returned, fart/burp without feeling the littlest tinge of embarrassment, have an 'open-concept' toilet, and you know, we always try to make time for family engagements especially the planned ones. I never realised that what I have is uncommon until time and time again, people have said they are amazed/envious that Sissy S and I are this close.
I'm thankful.

Food for thought.
Lollipops turn into cigarettes. The innocent ones turn into sluts.
Homework goes in the trash. Mobile phones are being used in class.
Detention becomes suspension. Soda becomes vodka.
Bikes become cars. Kisses turn into sex.
Remember when getting high meant swinging on the playground?
When protection meant wearing a helmet?
When the worst things you could get from boys were cooties?
Dad’s shoulders were the highest place on earth and Mom was your hero?
Your worst enemies were your siblings. Race issues were about who ran the fastest.
War was only a board game. And the only drug you knew was cough medicine.
The most pain you felt was when you skinned your knees, and goodbyes only meant until tomorrow?
And we couldn’t wait to grow up?

I am a 24 year old working adult on the verge of slipping into a quarter-life crisis. Wanderlust has hit me and I am trying to figure out how to be a long-term traveller. This space documents my experiences since I was a 17 year old student and is also an outlet for the thoughts swimming in my head.
