Work-relatedBig Boss said to me today: I can't offer you sky high pay but I can offer you job opportunities and stability. She even mentioned the prospect of transferring after a year. But will I still be there after a year? I wonder.
The good thing about being in the Benefits team is I can see the salaries of the employees in the institutes under my charge up until the level of Deputy Director so yes, I do know how much my Boss and Big Boss and Big Big Boss are paid. Well, let's just say that's another con to staying on.
My first paycheck isn't in yet and I already have a list of things I want to do/get:
1. A trip to somewhere
2. A good quality black bag
3. An entry level DSLR
Must keep desires in check. Must must must.
Just read Lee Wei Ling's Sunday Times article. Man, do I love her writing. I thought this article was a little different from her other writeups- it was more personal; It touched on feelings. It reminded me of a recent dream I had that surprisingly, I still vaguely remember today. The most vivid part had me lamenting about my job over the phone to Ms K while she was looking after her baby. Clearly, two conclusions can be drawn:
1. I'm not satisfied in my job.
2. I miss sailing and all the sailing peeps!
But in spite of all the dissatisfaction relating to my job, I have to say that I am thankful that all the people that I have to work closely with are nice and helpful and do not mind my constant queries. This fact especially stood out today. Lucky lucky me.
Just taken to reading again. Current read: The Tipping Point. It makes me want to watch Sesame Street to see what all the hype is about. Am going to aim to complete at least one book every 2 months. Yeah, that's long. I'm a little ashamed to say that I only read on the way home from work. I'm only completing this book a tad faster because it occupied me while I was sitting in the salon chair having my hair rebonded and treated for painstakingly six hours!
Oh, a happy thing today - I finally set a high score for Minesweeper on my office computer! Okay, shouldn't be publicising. Plus, my lime green dress received compliments! :D
Tomorrow should be a good day because I'm having a newbies' orientation in the morning and am meeting the girls for dinner. :)
Hopefully, a mahjong game later this week! Last week's was cancelled. Ugh. Must expand mahjong network.
Another thing - I discovered how terrible the Chinese (I mean China Chinese) are as pet owners.
